I loved this scene from Drive.

Watched Drive last night with my friends. Made me really appreciate watching movies in complete silence. When people talk during a movie and insert their own commentary, it really ruins the experience for me. So, I didn’t enjoy it as much as I thought I would. I’ll probably have to re-watch it sometime later.

Amazing score. I want to listen to it and just drive. Loved the cinematography. Love how restrained Gosling’s acting was. Loved the sparse dialogue - there’s so much you can glean from this movie from what is unsaid. It’s so much harder for a filmmaker to show an audience something as opposed to telling them. And oh my god, the violence! Excessive and graphic. My only real issue with the film was the slow pacing. But other than that, I definitely recommend it!

Buxom Lash Mascara ($19)

I got this as a free sample with my last Sephora order, otherwise I wouldn’t have tried it. I love the applicator - nice and soft and easy to control. It doesn’t clump up my lashes, so I rarely need to use my eyelash comb. Makes my lashes voluminous!

Drawbacks: Not waterproof and price. Oh, I wish this mascara was waterproof! Only then could it somewhat justify the price. And $19 is steep! I don’t think I’ll be purchasing this when I finish it.

Billy Jealousy Combination Code Face Moisturizer ($26)

I LOVE this moisturizer. I’ve gone through so many moisturizers over the years, and this is one of the few that I’m impressed with! It’s done wonders for my skin as well. My skin has cleared up a bit since I’ve used it. The price is a bit steep, but you don’t need a lot to cover the whole face. It’s also matte, which is great for my oily/combination skin. I don’t need to blot off any excess oil. (With a lot of oil-free moisturizers that I’ve purchased in the past, I had to blot off oil.)

The only thing I don’t like about this moisturizer is that it lacks SPF and that it’s a little difficult to apply concealer/foundation afterwards because it’s so matte.

Who cares if it’s a men’s line product? I love it! It works for my skin - my face has cleared up a bit and it feels a lot smoother!

a new year

I don’t normally make New Year’s resolutions, since I usually don’t follow through with them. But I figured, why not?

1. Exercise.
Please?

2. Step out of my comfort zone/be more confident/take chances.
There were so many times in the past few years that I was too scared to step out of my comfort zone and didn’t open myself up to new experiences. Didn’t apply for an internship position that I was interested in. Didn’t ask out a guy that I’m interested in. Life’s way too short to limit yourself because you’re scared of your pride getting hurt. It’s amazing how far we’ll go to protect our pride so that we don’t get hurt… at the cost of our own happiness.

3. Seek counseling.
I’ve hidden and buried my feelings in the past and hoped that they would go away on their own. But, it’s clear to me now that it doesn’t work that way. I know I need to talk to someone about how I feel, I just need to take the first step and call.

4. Time management.
I really need to learn how to budget my time, especially in regards to studying. I hate how almost every semester, I’m scrambling by the time midterms and finals are near. Last semester’s finals went pretty well ‘cause I knew how much time to spend on each class. Just gotta keep doing it!

5. Read more!
I haven’t read any books for pure pleasure since I started pharmacy school in 2010! Only textbooks :(

6. Eat healthier.
